Life gets pretty tiring after a while.
I’ve been working my lovely bum off, and everyday I wake up, the pile of folders and papers gets taller and taller.
It’s been hectic since it’s the end of the fiscal year for most of our clients and we’re closing our books. I just hope I don’t get anymore clients. Seven is more than I can cope with.
It’s hard to get my work done properly and expeditiously when the employees [that are working for my clients] aren’t very accurate.
It’s been a while…

What the title says…
Today someone asked me why I would work for a company without being paid. In other words, volunteer.
You volunteer to gain experience in your field of expertise or you do it to gain your hours. Since we’re talking about recent University graduates and not someone who’s trying to complete their 40 hours of community service, I’m going focus more on University Graduates without any experience.
There is a high chance that the company you will be applying for requires you to have some sort of experience. What’s better than gaining experience from volunteering?
Volunteering for a company, allows you to not only gain experience, but it also allows the employee to remember you and recommend [refer] you to another place; not as a volunteer, but as an employee (if you do a good job).
So if you are looking for a place to volunteer, we [the company I work for; Marketing Company] are always open; both in Canada and the States. Drop a comment if you’re interested. Don’t forget to tell me your field of study.
Work, work, and more work.

It’s been a week since my last day of class, and I’m busy as always.
I’ve been trying to complete tax forms to be submitted to the Canada Revenue Agency. Some people think that completing such forms are effortless.
I’d like to see you try and complete them on your own without getting penalize by the government for calculating it inaccurately.
It is a tough job being hassled by the government almost every working hour of the day. On top of that, every day I have people coming up to me asking why there is a large deduction on their pay that goes towards taxes.
If you don’t want the government to borrow your money for the year, then fill out a TD1 form accurately and have your taxes deducted to the exact cent. If you are not satisfied by the deduction, then maybe you should try and calculate it by yourself using the CRA’s online calculator.
Please bear in mind that you need to know the rates for CPP, EI, and if you’re in Quebec; QPP, EI, QPIP. But don’t forget to look up your Income Tax Tables. You’ll also need to know the difference between benefits and allowances.
When you know all those things, you can come up to me and tell me that I’ve calculated your pay inaccurately. Until then, we payroll practitioners, are very busy people.
